NBA, some interesting statistics on Miami

Bleacher Report

The Finals that will crown the NBA champion team of the 2022-2023 season kick off on Friday 2 June. Miami won game 7 and was able to stop the comeback of the Boston Celtics right at the climax. After managing to recover from 0-3 to 3-3, they surrender in the decisive game 7. The Heat win 103-84, thanks also to Jimmy Butler’s 28 points and conquer the Finals. Second final in four years, now Miami challenges the formation of the Denver Nuggets for the title.

The Heat, in the victory against Tatum and his companions, highlighted and confirmed some important statistical aspects that made the difference. The first concerns the aforementioned Jimmy Butler, protagonist of a super performance against Boston. He finished the game with a total of 28 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists, plus 3 steals. He was the authentic driver of the team led by coach Spoelstra.

The contribution of Caleb Martin was also decisive for the success in race 7. For him a magnificent performance that can be well summarized with the following numbers: 26 points and 10 rebounds. Caleb was expected to make the crucial baskets of game 7, between the third and fourth period, thanks to which he can bring Miami up to +17, reducing the chances of recovery of the Celtics to a minimum.

A well-known statistic has also been confirmed in the decisive match between Miami and Boston: the taboo of 0-3 in the NBA playoffs. The Celtics managed to recover at 3-3 but lost the decisive match. This is the 151st time this has happened. No team has ever managed to complete the comeback from 0-3.

Finally, the most famous talisman of the NBA finals deserves due consideration: Kevin Love. Coming to Miami after being cut by the Cavaliers, he did not play in Game 6 or Game 7 after being placed in the starting lineup in the first five games. The big Kevin played in the playoffs 5 times in his career and in all of them he conquered the finals. Previously with the Cavs from 2015 to 2018, winning the title in 2016, to which is added the recent one with Miami. Much more than a lucky charm.

The Nuggets are favorites in Game 1 in the head-to-head against the Heat according to the odds published by the main Bookmakers. Denver’s success is in fact given at 1.24 in basketball bets, Miami’s victory is instead banked at 3.75. Naturally, each game has its own story, with both teams intent on writing NBA history. From Friday 2 June we will start to get serious.
