Many judoka from all over Germany attended the multi-day mega event and this year’s number of participants at the DEM was correspondingly high.

Jörg Götzen had to deal with four opponents in his weight and age class (M5, -60 kg) in the “everyone against everyone” mode. Jörg was new to this age group with his first opponent from Saarland. But his opponent hasn’t been beaten for years and the man from Attendorn couldn’t win against him this year either.

In the second game, Jörg probably achieved the fastest victory of the day. Already after 5 seconds he threw his opponent from Baden-Württemberg with a flawless release (Ura-Nage) on the mat.

Fight number three Jörg could also decide for himself. In the last encounter it was against the reigning German champions in this class. Since the judoka from TS Einfeld had also won two fights so far, this match was about place number 2. The two have known each other for years from these tournaments, so there was a surprise attack like the first win. But Jörg patiently waited for his chance and was able to perform his special technique on the other throwing side, the left, and thus secured the early victory. At the end of a long day of tournaments, he received the silver medal.
