More than 700 young people from the Patagonian provinces of our country, for three days, competed in the disciplines table tennis, badminton, archery (these three also in adapted modality), Olympic lifting, Olympic wrestling, taekwondo, artistic gymnastics, tennis and climbing.
These games, which took place between May 25 and 28, fostered the development of Olympic and Paralympic sports in locations with low population density, creating a space for growth for athletes from the Patagonian provinces.
The competitions culminated this past Sunday at noon, highlighting the important achievements obtained by the Arquería Santa Cruz team, which brought a collective medal and three individual medals to the province.
The young Joaquín Dezeta and Bianca Tonelli, from the Sub 17 category, traveled to the city of Chubut to represent Santa Cruz after the passing of a provincial selective; Amparo De María, Alan Bustos from Río Turbio in the Under 15 category and Facundo Morales (PCD). They did so accompanied by the coaches and coaching staff: Sergio De María, Javier Levicoy, Federico Sayago and Alma Mancilla, who was the delegate of the women’s team.
“We did very well, the participation of the boys was excellent. Five archers traveled, we brought four medals: one for the team and three for individuals,” said Levicoy.
“Everyone had a good performance compared to last year. They surpassed their personal best compared to the previous games, which denotes the increase in the level of the archers. The idea is that they improve their mark day by day and in this action if they come out first, second or third it is better ”, he highlighted.
“It is hard work that has been done for several months training. Before they participated in a local and provincial selective, in which competitors from Río Turbio and from this capital appeared. In this selective there were four boys from Río Gallegos and one from Río Turbio”, the coach expanded.
