Games of La Francophonie: Congolese judokas invite the government to invest more in their preparations

The Judo Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), female and male versions, are preparing for their participation in the 9th Games of La Francophonie, scheduled from July 28 to August 6, in Kinshasa. Indeed, Actualité.cd collected the reactions of the Congolese judokas on the evolution of the preparations of the latter at 59 days or 2 months and a week from the start of these games.

The preparations of the Congolese athletes are progressing for better than bad, although the construction work at the various sites is accelerating further. Reacting to this subject, Bola Lola Josepha, gold medalist of the Luanda Open in Angola, invites the government to invest in the good preparation of athletes and federations.

“I’m healthy and focused on working to defend my country well at these games. I’m ready and we continue with our training although all the conditions are not met. We encounter many problems with this preparation, in particular material, financial, etc. We are committed to defending our country well, as we are always used to doing. Only that we wish that all the conditions can be improved, ”he confides.

And to continue:

“We are not going to change our goals for these games to win multiple gold medals like we did at the Luanda Open in Angola where we snatched a gold medal. We insist on asking our government to also invest in our preparation as it does with the construction of the various sites. The DRC is our country, we are among the best because we have good athletes and coaches to defend the country well,” he continues.

For her part, Audrey Mabondo dit Zoulou, Congolese brown belt judoka under 57 kg, indicates that it is an honor to see these games organized in the DRC and promises to give everything to win the medals.

“We are preparing ourselves accordingly with the means on board for these games, which will not be easy for us with regard to the countries which will take part. We must and have the obligation to defend the country well at these games. We must also, at all costs, win the medals for the honor of the country. We are not going to let it go and see the medals slipping away. Especially not in my category.

Postponed more than once, these 9th Games of La Francophonie will bring together, for 10 days, several young athletes and artists from 53 countries.
