French Open – Women’s results: Teenager Andreeva turns heads in Paris – Jabeur wins confidently

Mirra Andreeva had everything under control against Alison Riske-Amritraj, who was a semi-finalist at the Australian Open in 2019, and won 6-2, 6-1 in just 56 minutes.

The young Russian had already caused a sensation in Madrid before the French Open when she advanced to the round of 16.

“Last year’s final is over. I’m glad I was able to stay aggressive and turn the match around,” said the 19-year-old, who described Paris as her favorite city.

Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina got off to a good start at the French Open. The fourth-seeded Kazakh, who had underpinned her role as one of the favorites in Roland-Garros with her victory at the WTA tournament in Rome, defeated the 16-year-old qualifier Brenda Fruhvirtova (Czech Republic) 6: 4, 6: 2 at the start.

In the second round, the next Czech in Linda Noskova is waiting for Rybakina.

Ons Jabeur, seeded seventh, is also sovereign in round two. The Tunisian didn’t give Lucia Bronzetti (Italy) a chance at 6:4, 6:1.
