The separation of FC Bayern from sports director Salihamidzic has consequences. Two professionals are reluctant to renew their contracts. There was already agreement. Another one wants to leave now, one should go. One consultant speaks of “instability and uncertainty”.

NAfter a Pentecost weekend, which goes down as one of the most turbulent in the club’s history, it was quieter on Säbener Straße on Tuesday morning. Most FC Bayern players are on vacation, only a few trained, and bosses Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic are no longer in office.

After the German soccer record champions parted from their CEO and the sports director, the new management has to press ahead with the transfer planning that has already begun. A huge challenge. The new club boss Jan-Christian Dreesen, the former CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and coach Thomas Tuchel should initially take over, and a new sports director should be found by Christmas at the latest.

Salihamidzic’s split could have far-reaching consequences in terms of contract negotiations with players. Especially in the cases of Alphonso Davies and Lucas Hernández. Salihamidzic signed both professionals and both had a close relationship with the 46-year-old. The “Bayern quake”, as the change in club management is called in many media, could now mess up the squad planning.

Alphonso Davies is now reluctant to extend his contract. The contract of the Canadian national defender is valid until June 30, 2025. An extension was prepared between his agent Nedal Huoseh and the previous club management around Salihamidzic. According to information from WELT, almost everything had already been discussed, there was a “handshake agreement”.

Negotiations have stopped

Huoseh has been in Munich for more than two weeks. He will start his journey home on Wednesday: without an agreement. The negotiations have now been halted. “It’s a chaotic time at Bayern Munich. I’m not sure what’s going on and who we’re going to be dealing with,” says the fast-paced full-back’s agent, referring to his future contacts. He is concerned about the state of the club: “There seems to be too much instability and uncertainty about the direction of the club.”

Top European clubs are interested in Davies, including Manchester City, Real Madrid and Manchester United. Huoseh told Bild: “Maybe it’s better if we wait until 2024 and see how things develop with the club before moving on to a new contract.”

The 67-year-old Rummenigge will become the ninth member of the powerful FC Bayern AG supervisory board. Davies is the first sticky case he has to solve. And the personnel of Lucas Hernández should also keep him busy in the near future.

PSG apparently want Hernández

Salihamidzic signed the French defender, who trained Tuesday at Säbener Strasse, from Atlético Madrid four years ago for €80m. A transfer that is still controversial today, because Hernández is always injured. Despite all the criticism, Salihamidzic always stood in front of the professional, defended him and emphasized his qualities. The defensive star’s contract is valid until June 30, 2024 and is to be extended.

Negotiations were apparently close to completion. But now a move to Paris St. Germain seems possible. Bayern would like to continue to extend with Hernandez. The challenge now is to continue the talks started by Salihamidzic in a timely and effective manner.

Bayern no longer have a chance with Benjamin Pavard. The French world champion apparently wants to leave the club. The only open question is when: either this summer or 2024. The 27-year-old’s contract with the champions ends in a year. This summer, Bayern would still be able to get a fee for him, Pavard’s market value is estimated at 35 million euros.

Cancelo is already leaving Bayern Munich

According to “SportBild”, Pavard and his management have informed the club that he wants to change. He therefore wants to become champion in another country. In this wild Bayern season, Pavard was one of the most consistent players. Munich had signed him in 2019 for 40 million euros from VfB Stuttgart. In 162 games for Bayern so far, he has scored 12 goals and provided 12 assists.

Joao Cancelo will also no longer play for Bayern in the future: the full-back loaned from Manchester City last winter is too expensive, and Munich are not making use of their purchase option (70 million euros) for the 29-year-old Portuguese. FC Barcelona are said to be interested in Cancelo.
