Dries Mertens left Napoli last summer after nine years for Galatasaray. The first season did not fall short of expectations for the Red Devil.

Still, many expected Mertens to leave Galatasaray after a year and possibly return to Belgium. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Red Devil would stay in Istanbul for another year.

Galatasaray would lift the clause in his contract, which means that Mertens will automatically stay at the club until 2024. Dries and Kat are having a great time in the Turkish capital and therefore seem to see no reason to return to Belgium for the time being.

Galatasaray zou de clausule in zijn contract lichten, waardoor Mertens automatisch tot 2024 bij de club blijft. Dries en Kat hebben het prima naar hun zin in de Turkse hoofdstad en lijken dus voorlopig geen reden te zien om terug te keren naar België.
