Commanders get ready to cut Andrew Norwell, according to sources

The offensive lineman is dealing with a left elbow injury that has slowed him down throughout the offseason.

Los Washington Commanders they posted the guard Andrew Norwell on the reserve/unable to practice list this Tuesday, with the intention of eventually releasing him.

Multiple sources have said in the past couple of months that Washington intends to cut Norwell once you are able to pass a physical test. The offensive lineman is dealing with a left elbow injury that has slowed him down throughout the offseason.

Norwell he strained his hip in Week 17, and sat out last season’s finale, but has recovered from that injury.

Washington $2.28 million could be saved if cut before next Thursday, without a post-June 1 cutoff designation. The Commanders they could save $4.38 million against this year’s salary cap, however, with a post-June 1 cutoff appointment.

Washington signed to Norwell to a two-year deal in the offseason last year, with the intention of making him their starting left guard. But, the coaches considered his level of play inconsistent, and wanted more youth along the offensive line.

Norwell originally stayed on the roster of the Panthers as an undrafted free agent coming out of Ohio State in 2014.

Washington he also parted ways with the veteran cornerback Cameron Dantzler this Tuesday.
