Chirag Shetty-Satwiksairaj Rankireddy reach career-best rank. 4

Indian male double Chirag Shetty et Satwiksairaj Rankireddy reached a career-high world No. 4 in the latest BWF World Rankings.

Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, who were in fifth position earlier in May, moved up a spot in the badminton standings.

The Indian duo claimed the Swiss Open 2023 crown in March before winning the Asian Badminton Championship 2023 men’s doubles title in April. They will be in action at the ongoing 2023 Thailand Open in Bangkok after missing out on the 2023 Malaysia Masters.

In the gentlemen’s singles, H.S. Prannoy won a place at eight. The 30-year-old’s rise comes after he clinched the men’s singles title at the Malaysia Masters 2023. It was HS Prannoy’s first BWF World Tour title.

Amongst others Indian badminton players in the men’s singles category, former world n°1 Kidambi Srikanth moved up three places to No. 20 after recently reaching the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Masters in Kuala Lumpur.

Meanwhile, the 2022 Commonwealth Games champion Lakshya Sen dropped one spot to No. 23. Mithun Manjunath moved up one spot to No. 43.

In women’s singles, double Olympic medalist PV Sindhu remained at No. 13 despite reaching the semi-finals of the Malaysia Masters. The former world champion left the top 10 for the first time in seven years in March. Bronze medalist at the 2012 London Olympics Saina Nehwal remained at No. 36 while Malvika Bansod fell to No. 43.

In the women’s doubles standings, the pair of Gayatri Gopichand et Treesa Jolly are the only Indian duo in the top 20 with a ranking of No. 15.

N Sikki Reddy and Rohan Kapoor remained India’s highest-ranked mixed doubles duo at No.35.
