Within the framework of the 61st congress of the Spanish Society of Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine (SERMEF), an exciting wheelchair basketball workshop was held that left an indelible mark on all the participants. This experience, which took place from May 17 to 20, once again demonstrated the transformative power of sport in the rehabilitation of people with disabilities.
The wheelchair basketball workshop, coordinated by renowned professionals and experts in the field, gave participants the opportunity to experience first-hand the passion and skill required to practice this exciting sport. From the first moment, the attendees witnessed the incredible athleticism and intensity of the game of the players of the BSR Cantabria.
However, the workshop was much more than a simple approach to adapted sports. The participants also had the opportunity to engage in enriching talks with the members of BSR Cantabria, who shared their personal experiences and highlighted the importance of sport in their rehabilitation and self-improvement process. These conversations were inspiring and motivating for all present.
But wheelchair basketball was not the only adapted sport present at the congress. Attendees were also able to enjoy other disciplines, such as adapted surfingthe Bowlchair fencing, adapted rowing and pickleball. These activities demonstrated the diversity and inclusion that characterizes adapted sport, giving participants a broader vision of the possibilities and opportunities that exist for people with disabilities.
Without a doubt, this SERMEF initiative demonstrates its commitment to promoting adapted sports and its work to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities. We look forward to future workshops and events that continue to foster inclusion and empowerment through sport.
