Benfica asks for an investigation into the agreement that freed Rui Pinto from five lawsuits – Executive Digest

Benfica wants the agreement between Rui Pinto, creator of Football Leaks and accused hacker in the process of the same name, and the Public Ministry to be investigated. The lawyers representing the club have already asked the Superior Council of the Public Ministry (CSMP) to investigate the circumstances in which the provisional suspension was granted in five judicial proceedings in which Rui Pinto was targeted.

According to Jornal de Notícias, the lawyers speak of a “negotiation” between a prosecutor from the Central Department of Investigation and Penal Action (DCIAP), who will have intervened abusively in the investigation, and the defense of Rui Pinto, to benefit the hacker. and prevent him from being tried in the five cases in which he was involved.

At issue are the investigations into alleged access by Rui Pinto to the systems of the Management Center for the Government’s IT Network, FC Porto, the Institute of Financial Management and Justice Equipment (IGFEJ), the email box of Joana Marques Vidal, Public Prosecutor -General of the Republic, in the meantime retired, and also of Benfica.

It should be remembered that it was in July 2020 that the MP proposed, and Judge Carlos Alexandre accepted, the provisional suspension of the five processes and that would allow Rui Pinto not to be tried, by making himself available to the Judiciary Police and the Public Ministry to collaborate in investigations, giving the decryption codes of the disks and computers that had been seized from him, and not committing any crimes.

The deal was proposed by Carlos Casimiro Nunes and Benfica always tried to stop it.

Now, the lawyers representing the club claim that the prosecutor “accessed the content of the digital evidence seized from Rui Pinto, without any documented support in that investigation and in the process where such seizure took place”.

In the same request, addressed to the CSMP, Benfica also asks that suspicions be investigated that another investigation that is ongoing, and which also targets Rui Pinto, has been subject to conditioning, with “diversion of the human resources in charge of the respective investigation”.
