The return of a dozen photos from the second edition of the photo contest “A sportsman in my city!” is on display until tomorrow Wednesday at the media library. Open to children or adults, and organized by the municipal youth council (CMJ), this challenge invited Balmanais to immortalize sports sequences. Sports shoes on an entrance sign to Balma or even a young gymnast in front of the town hall, the photos are staged or taken on the spot. Handball, skateboarding, hoverboarding, fencing, tennis, archery… The photos offer a sample of the disciplines accessible in more than 35 sports clubs present in the town, for more than 7,000 licensees in all fields.
The exhibition illustrates the interest of the people of Balman for physical activity, while less than a year ago their municipality maintained its three laurels with the national label “Active & Sports City”, a distinction which rewards the cities placing sport at the heart of their municipal policy. Balma and its 18,000 souls thus have 70 sports facilities for around forty disciplines practiced regularly. According to the young elected members of the CMJ, this competition is intended to reveal the creativity of the inhabitants around an imposed theme, while contributing to consolidating the “sport” value in Balma.
