Aston Martin has come out of a very difficult weekend in Azerbaijan with flying colors. Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll started with many problems to activate the DRS of the AMR23 in the Baku street circuit, but they managed to solve them in the race. For the first time this season, Alonso did not get on the podium, although he was very close, finishing just 8 tenths behind Leclerc. Stroll finished seventh. Both occupy the third and fourth position, respectively in the Drivers’ World Championship and the team is second in constructors. Mike Crack, The director of Aston Martin asks for “patience” and is optimistic with a view to next weekend’s appointment in Miami.
“Fernando was very close to the podium, but you have to be realistic. We have a team, Red Bull, that is way ahead of everyone. Only the third drawer remains. We have more positives than negatives in this race. We have fought for the podium, but we have to be patient,” said Krack after the grand prix.
“We think that in Miami we will do better than in Baku. There are more medium and high speed corners there and there is also a long straight. It’s going to be an interesting challenge and it’s good that we have these races in a row now,” says the Luxembourg coach.
Alonso wants more

We are so close to Mercedes, Ferrari and Aston Martin that every weekend is going to be a little different. A team will be ahead of the rest depending on the characteristics of the circuit and other factors. If it’s hot as it should be and there’s more degradation, that’s normally good news for us,” underlines Fernando.
“Our car is above the performance we expected and mercedes and ferrari they were below in the first races, but they are very strong teams and they will get better and better as was seen last year in the case of Mercedes”, Alonso explained in Marca, where he acknowledges that his chances of reaching victory 33 this year are “possible” and points to 2024 to try to have a title fight.
“I think that in 2023 we don’t have a choice, but neither do the rest of the teams, because Red Bull is in another league and has a very difficult advantage to play. But in 2024, seeing the leap we’ve taken this winter, we could take another one next and be able to fight for the World Cup”.
