The Telekom Baskets Bonn are only one win away from entering the final series of the Basketball Bundesliga.
The best team of the main round also won the second playoff semi-final game against the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg on Wednesday with 94:65 (44:36) and leads in the best-of-five series with 2:0 after wins. Head coach Tuomas Iisalo’s team has been unbeaten in the BBL for 24 games in a row.
The Bonn team kept making easy shots near the basket and were leading 27:21 after the first quarter. Jeremy Morgan shone with ten points in only his second appearance this year. The Ludwigsburg then forced numerous ball losses, but did not find a rhythm themselves offensively and were 36:44 behind at the break.
Bonn can make finals move clear
After half-time, Leon Kratzen quickly gave Bonners a double-digit lead with strong rebound work, which the hosts extended to 19 points before the fourth round. In the second half, Bonn dominated the game. Morgan provided the top scorer with 23 points.
The third semi-final game will take place in Ludwigsburg next Saturday. If the Bonners win, after 1997, 1999, 2001, 2008 and 2009 they will move into the BBL finals for the sixth time in their club history. So far it hasn’t been enough for the title.
