On Saturday May 13, at a place called La Peyrouse in Saint-Félix-de-Villadeix, the inauguration of the new fitness trail accessible to all and orientation trails located in the heart of the Petra Alta forest took place. The morning began with the cutting of the ribbon by the sub-prefect Jean-Charles Jobart, in the presence of the children of the school and the three sponsors of the site: Joël Jeannot, French gold medalist at the world championships in disabled athletics , Cédric Guillaud, resident of the Foyer de vie La Peyrouse and French adapted judo champion, as well as Jacques Chouly, author of the essay entitled “Le handicap en public”.

Philippe Gondonneau, former mayor of the village, took the floor to present the story of this project, which was the winner of the departmental participatory budget in 2019 and, as such, obtained a grant of 36,000 euros. He also mentioned its cost: 279,200 euros. Then, he proposed a commented walk of the two circuits, allowing participants to discover the facilities while admiring the beauty of the environment.

Orienteering course

During the walk, the pupils of the school of Saint-Félix presented the equipment set up along the orientation course. Upon arrival, Carole Alary, mayor of the town, began her speech by playing the song “6th sense” by Grand Corps Malade, thus creating a moving atmosphere. She expressed her gratitude to the funders and all the people who contributed to the realization of this “exceptional site”.

After the speech by Marie-Lise Marsat, departmental councilor and vice-president of the handicap service, the sub-prefect underlined that this course, which would be the second adapted site in France, perfectly illustrates the policy of the municipality in terms of sport. , nature, heritage and inclusion.

Many other projects are currently under study, such as the development of the forest, the creation of the “loop of the centuries” and a play area for children in the clearing.
