Premier League teams announced on Thursday that they have reached a “collective” agreement to remove bookmaker advertising from the front of their shirts. The agreement will enter into force at the end of the 2025-26 season. It is the first professional league in the United Kingdom to make this decision, he stressed in a statement.

Right now, there are eight teams in the British competition that carry advertising on the front of their shirt. Most of those deals are long-term, but others will end shortly, such as Fulham and Newcastle.

This decision comes after a large “consultation” involving the league, the teams, and the Department of Culture of the British Government. All this, as part of a review of the betting regulations promoted by the Executive.

With the objective that the teams do not go through difficulties and find other sources of income for the front part of their shirt -yes they can appear in other parts of the body- the pact will not enter into force until the end of the 2025-26 academic year.
