The Focherini second in the province in Badminton

After the excellent results in mathematics and robotics competitions, in First Lego Leaguethe students of the Odoardo Focherini School they also demonstrate great dexterity in sports: the Badminton team was in fact classified second in the provincial student championships.
A great satisfaction for the boys who, for the first time this year, have tried their hand at this sport and have competed with teams from the province, including those with long experience.

These are mixed teams, made up of four elements. The call-ups for the Focherini were: Alessandro Barbieri, Alessandro Casini, Melissa Catelani e Fatima Shabahzcoached and supported by the teacher Eleonora Tagliati.
The match took place on April 28, at the Calvino IC2 school gym in Modena, and saw the participation of 6 teams from the province of Modena. The event was divided into two groups; the top two teams in each group qualified for the semi-finals and finals.

The Focherini team beat the Calvino school team of Modena 2-1 and the Stradi school of Maranello 3-0, finishing first in their group. In the semifinals, our students then won 2-1 against the San Carlo middle schools of Modena, thus earning the final: a balanced match that finally saw the victory of the San Giuseppe school of Modena who thus fly to the regional phase, which will be held in Cesenatico on May 10th.

A great success for a team, like that of the Focherini, which this year faced Badminton for the first time, demonstrating great skills and excellent enthusiasm and also receiving compliments from the organisers, former Badminton coaches, who were pleasantly impressed by the technical and tactical skills of the boys.

“I am very proud of our boys – comments Professor Tagliati – and of the result, unexpected for a rookie team. We signed up to understand how the tournament worked and we found ourselves in the final! But beyond the result, it was also nice to compete with other teams, other realities. It was a very constructive experience for all of us. I’m super happy.”
