(ANSA) – ROME, 21 APR – Novak Djokovic was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 tournament in Banja Luka, Bosnia, organized by his family. The Serbian was beaten by his compatriot Dusan Lajovic (n.70 Atp) for 6-4 7-6(6), canceling 3 consecutive set points from Djokovic in the tie-break of the second set. Djokovic confirmed himself in not exceptional physical conditions, as well as from a mental point of view, where he appeared far from hunger for better days.
For Lajovic it is the first victory in his career against a world No. 1. “I’m overwhelmed by emotions – declared the 32-year-old at the end of the game – it’s my greatest success ever. Emotions are very mixed because I played here near my hometown and against Nole who is a good friend and is a hero of the our country. Beating him is something I didn’t think would be possible, but it happened.” (HANDLE).
