Sport policy and Ukraine: Thomas Bach’s perfidious distortion of truth – Sport

In the world of the International Olympic Committee, cunning distortion of the truth is a standard tool. For example, when it comes to the re-admission of athletes from Russia and Belarus – and the IOC blames Ukraine for various problems.

As far as the flowery ornate bending of the truth is concerned, nobody can fool the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and its President Thomas Bach. Be it the doping problem (regrettable isolated cases), Olympic corruption (regrettable isolated cases) or the cost of the Olympic Games (it’s practically free). Sometimes Bach also turns straight into the realm of fairy tales, for example when he tells stories in interviews that without the Summer Games in 1972, Munich might not have had a subway network to this day. (The ground-breaking ceremony took place a year before the Olympics were awarded.) In Bach’s world, this does not happen without calculation. Once such a fairy tale has been planted in the world, it is quickly repeated over and over again until it passes as truth.
