Rostock Seawolves concede narrow defeat in Heidelberg

Dhe Rostock Seawolves have once again suffered a setback in the Basketball Bundesliga. On Friday, the team of head coach Christian Held lost 75:78 (43:33) at the MLP Academics Heidelberg despite a clear lead at half-time and suffered their 15th defeat in the 28th game. The best pitcher for the promoted team was Nijal Pearson (17 points).

After a balanced start in the first quarter, Rostock had pulled away to 29:17. The guests benefited from a strong three-way quota. Four out of eight attempts from a distance were successful. Heidelberg, on the other hand, only got the ball in the basket on three out of twelve throws. Thanks to a 7-0 series, the Seawolves were able to extend their lead in the second half. After that, however, the Heidelbergers got into the game better and proved to be much more accurate in the threes.

Almost two minutes after the change of sides, Rostock had to accept the equalizer after a 0:10 run. Derrick Alston gave Mecklenburg the lead again with a three, but Heidelberg remained the dominant team and gained a seven-point cushion before the end of the period. Almost three minutes before the end, Rostock seemed to be back on the road to victory, but then had to admit defeat.
