Jannik Sinner has been performing brilliantly at the Masters tournament in Miami so far and is in the semifinals. There he gets to deal with Carlos Alcaraz, as expected. Will the South Tyrolean prevail this time?

US Open winner Alcaraz reached the semifinals on Friday night (CET). The world number one defeated the American Taylor Fritz 6:4,6:2 and is still on course for his next Masters title. The 19-year-old Spaniard recently won the hard court tournament in Indian Wells, California, and is the defending champion in Miami. In the semifinals, Alcaraz, who has won 18 of his 19 games this year, now meets Sinner. In the second semifinal there will be a Russian duel between Daniil Medvedev and Karen Khachanov.

So Sinner is fighting for his second final in a Masters tournament in the popular vacation spot of Miami. He had achieved the first two years ago at the same place and then lost to Hubert Hurkacz. What Sinner has offered tennis fans in Miami up to this point this year was terrific. Now, like two weeks ago, at the Masters in Indian Wells, Sinner has to take the Alcaraz semi-final hurdle. Sinner is eager for revenge after the Spaniard defeated him in two sets and then rose again to number 1 in the world.

In total, Sinner and Alcaraz have faced each other five times at ATP level. The Iberian, who is two years younger, leads in a direct duel with 3:2. With a win in Miami, Sinner now wants to catch up again on Saturday night (1 a.m. CET). This encounter should not leave many neutral tennis fans cold. After all, last year Sinner and Alcaraz fought a legendary duel in the US Open quarterfinals, which the later tournament winner finally won after 5:15 hours.
