Striker of the U-20 Indonesian National Team Hocky Caraka apologized for the scathing comments on social media after Indonesia was canceled as host 2023 U-20 World Cup.

“I am Hokky Caraka, apologize to all parties, groups and individuals who were offended by the statements I gave both orally and in writing on social media”

“All of this cannot be separated from my feelings of disappointment, annoyance, and sadness after receiving the news and the fact that the U-20 World Cup in Indonesia was cancelled,” wrote Hokky on Instastory.

FIFA officially revoked the host status of the 2023 U-20 World Cup from Indonesia on Wednesday (29/3). Currently Argentina is a strong candidate as a substitute host for Indonesia.

Despite revoking Indonesia’s host status, FIFA decided the schedule for the U-20 World Cup would not change. It starts on May 20 and ends on June 11.

Previously, Hokky was one of the players who loudly expressed his disappointment on social media. In fact, Hokky and several of his players joined the IG of Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo.

Ganjar became one of the governors who refused the arrival of the Israeli national team. Refusal is considered a form of moral support for the Palestinian people who have been colonized.

Bali Governor I Wayan Koster is also one of the regional officials who rejects Israel’s presence. As a result, Koster’s social media accounts have also become the butt of netizens.

Currently, Argentina is a strong candidate to replace Indonesia in the U-20 World Cup. Argentine Football Federation [AFA] even claim to live waiting for an official announcement from FIFA.
