Great entry by Fruhvirt. The young Czech saw off the seeded Swiss in the first round

Linda Fruhvirtova’s entry into the tournament in Charleston, USA went well. The 17-year-old tennis player defeated the fourteenth-seeded Jil Teichmann from Switzerland 6:2, 3:6, 6:2.

Although Fruhvirtová, the 60th player in the WTA ranking, lost her service in the first game of the match against her rival, who is ranked 31st, but then she controlled five games in a row and turned a comfortable lead into a win in the first set.

The second set also started with the young Czech losing serve. This time, however, the twenty-five-year-old native of Barcelona broke away to 4:1.

And although Fruhvirtová dramatized the set with a break, after her next lost serve, Teichmann equalized at 1:1.

The Czech Republic succeeded in the decisive action. She quickly led 4:0 and despite one more hesitation on the serve, she celebrated the victory after two hours and nine minutes.

In the next round, Fruhvirtová will face the better of the pair Caroline Dolehideová (172nd on the ranking) – Sabine Lisická (305th).
