It’s already clear that things will get uncomfortable for the loser: When 1. FC Köln host Rhine rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach on Sunday afternoon (3:30 p.m., LIVE! on kicker), two of the Bundesliga’s weakest clubs will meet – albeit both sides still have a certain cushion on the relegation zone. Cologne is 13th in the table. with 27 points six points ahead of the penultimate Schalke, Gladbach in tenth with 31 ten.

Four facts about the low form in Cologne:

1. FC have already suffered ten defeats – as many as in the entire previous season. In order to top the point haul from the previous season, he would have to win all the remaining nine games.

2. FC have only picked up one point from their last five games – fewer than any other Bundesliga team – and scored just once (in a 6-1 draw in Dortmund).

3. The FC won only two of the last 15 games in five draws and eight defeats.

4. FC lost the last two home games – there have never been three in a row under coach Steffen Baumgart.

Four facts about Gladbach’s low form:

1. Borussia are waiting for a win for the first time this season and for the first time under coach Daniel Farke in four games in a row (two draws, two defeats). Only Cologne currently has a longer series of wins.

2. Borussia only won one of their last 14 away games across the season – 4-1 in Hoffenheim on matchday 18.

3. Borussia lost six of their recent seven away games.

4. Borussia have not kept a clean sheet in nine away games and conceded 24 goals during this period – an average of 2.7 per game.

Historically, at least, the Cologne team are close to the Gladbachers: only against FC have the foals celebrated 52 wins (in 95 duels), against no other club more than 41; only against FC they won 25 times away from home; and Gladbach only scored 188 goals against Cologne. Is that good for encouragement on Sunday?
