Chelsea remain optimistic about Reece James staying

Chelsea do not want to lose defender Reece James to Real Madrid. Therefore, the Blues are preparing to present a counter-proposal that makes the player stay in the club, says ‘Football Insider’.

The meringues monitor the 23-year-old English side and put it as a goal for the next transfer window, in June. It’s been less than a year since James renewed his contract with Chelsea, now valid until 2028.

The Stamford Bridge side are aware of Spain’s interest but remain optimistic that James will remain. The athlete has the confidence of coach Graham Potter, who even considers making him captain of the team in the future.

After spending about 11 years in Chelsea’s youth system, James became a professional in 2018. In all, he has played 141 games, scored 11 goals and 20 assists.
