AMLO accuses the judiciary of lack of commitment to justice: everything is money, influence – El Sol de México

“There are complaints against companies that issued false invoices, but progress has been slow because the Judiciary is not committed to justice and the fight against corruption. Judges and magistrates are often influenced by money and grant protection to criminals”, accused the president during a conference in response to a question from an assistant about the alleged issuance of false invoices in previous governments.

López Obrador pointed out that the accounting firms that issued false invoices had a sophisticated strategy to evade taxes and used influence.

He stated that although there are complaints filed against these companies, progress has been limited due to the lack of commitment of the Judiciary to justice and the fight against corruption, and highlighted the need for reforms in the Judiciary.

The president also announced that he will summon Pablo Gómez Álvarez, head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), Antonio Martínez Dagnino, head of the Tax Administration Service (SAT), and Félix Arturo Medina, head of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office , so that they report on the progress in the fight against the companies issuing false invoices in one of their morning conferences.

Since he took office, López Obrador has led a campaign against tax evasion through false invoices, achieving reforms in Congress with the support of the Morena Parliamentary Group to penalize tax evasion and the buying and selling of false invoices as crimes. of organized crime, considered serious and subject to informal preventive detention.

It should be noted that the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IDH-Court) recently declared Mexico guilty of violating the personal integrity and freedom of two people since 2002, ordering the Mexican State to carry out a constitutional reform to eliminate figures such as arraigo and informal pretrial detention.

In the print edition of El Sol de México this Thursday, this case was documented and Edith Olivares Ferreto, Executive Director of Amnesty International in Mexico, was interviewed. This sentence is considered historic, since it not only does justice to the two people affected, but also prevents other people from being subjected to informal preventive detention or detention in the future.

Olivares Ferreto also opined that informal preventive detention and detention are procedural figures used as “punitive populism” that create a false perception of combating impunity.
