World rowing vice-champion Nesbitt is in artificial sleep after falling on her bike

The 30-year-old all-rounder was participating in a cycling criterium near the city of Hobart at the end of last week, where she had a serious accident. Paramedics treated her on the spot. Nesbitt was then transported by ambulance to Hobart Hospital.

The vice-champion of the world from 2017 was put into artificial sleep, but her condition is stable.

According to Australian rowing chief Ian Robson, Nesbitt is one of the most respected figures in Australian rowing. In addition to world silver, she is the holder of bronze from the U23 World Cup and an eight-time champion of Australia.

“The thoughts of the entire rowing family and wider sporting community are with Georgia and her family following this serious accident. We are offering ongoing support and assistance to her loved ones,” Robson wrote about the incident.
