Wöber fails for Estonia game

ÖFB team boss Ralf Rangnick has to accept another failure before the second game in the European Championship qualifier on Monday (8.45 p.m., live on ORF1) against Estonia. Maximilian Wöber was substituted before the break in the 4-1 win against Azerbaijan on Friday in Linz and his absence was confirmed on Saturday.

“Maximilian Wöber sustained a muscle injury on the back of his thigh (left) on Friday. He will leave the team quarters in Windischgarsten on Sunday and return to his club (Leeds United, note),” the association said.

Marko Arnautovic and Xaver Schlager, among others, were already injured against Azerbaijan. David Alaba watched the game from the bench, recovering from convalescence. With double goal scorer Marcel Sabitzer, another player is questionable after the game.
