Victory for Edmonton Oilers – Leon Draisaitl scores his 300th NHL goal – Sports

Connor McDavid became the first ice hockey player in the North American NHL to reach 140 points since 1996. The Canadian recorded his 80th assist in his 74th game of the season in his Edmonton Oilers’ 5-4 win over the Arizona Coyotes on Monday and the exceptional forward also scored 60 goals. The last time Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr hit the 140-point mark was in the 1995-96 season, side-by-side in the Pittsburgh Penguins jersey. Club legend Wayne Gretzky was the last Oilers professional to do so in 1987/88. McDavid is only the seventh NHL player with at least 60 goals and 80 assists in a season. The 26-year-old Oilers captain leads the NHL scorer list ahead of his German teammate Leon Draisaitl. The 27-year-old from Cologne scored his 300th goal against the Coyotes in the 630th NHL game of his career. Only three active players reached that mark faster: Alexander Ovechkin (after 473 games), Steven Stamkos (550) and Sidney Crosby (622). As the second best German, Tim Stützle from the Ottawa Senators is in 17th place in the NHL scorer list with 82 points.
