TV rights: France Télévisions and Amazon extend Roland-Garros until 2027

It was one of the hot issues of the TV rights renegotiations scheduled for this year. That of Roland-Garros has just been completed for the period 2024-2027 with an extension of the partnership with France Télévisions and Amazon Prime Video, announced Gilles Moretton, president of the French Tennis Federation, this Thursday afternoon on Europe 1 .

If the broadcasters remain the same on this new cycle, the programming will change slightly from 2024. France Télévisions will indeed recover all the daytime matches, including those of the Simonne-Mathieu court, currently broadcast exclusively on Prime Video.

For its part, Amazon Prime Video will continue its exclusive retransmission of night sessions, with a new “night session” which will now launch the Roland-Garros tournament on Sunday beginning the fortnight. The platform will thus increase from 10 to 11 exclusive evenings. It remains to be seen whether the best matches will continue to be scheduled for this night slot after the controversy generated by the Nadal-Djokovic quarter-final last year. France Télévisions and Amazon Prime Video will also continue to co-broadcast the semi-finals and finals, women and men.

During its last renegotiation, in 2019, the FFT was delighted to have increased its income from the TV rights of “more than 25%”, to reach approximately 25 million euros according to our information. For the moment, no details have been provided on the amount of the new contract and a possible increase in its value.
