Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young was ejected from Saturday’s game against the Indiana Pacers for throwing the ball to an umpire midway through the third quarter.
Young had just been called for an offensive foul that led to a game-tying 3-pointer by Tyrese Haliburton, resulting in an Atlanta timeout. Young, visibly frustrated, tossed the basketball in the direction of referee Scott Wall and quickly looked away before heading to the bench.
Young was promptly called for his 15th technical foul of the season and ejected. One more technical foul would see Young face a one-game suspension.
The Hawks entered Saturday’s game 36-37 and just one game up in the loss column over Toronto and Chicago for the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference.
Young finished the game with 14 points and five assists in 21 minutes.
