Tiger Woods teams up with an MLB star on a golf course

A three-time MLB MVP, Mike Trout, and a 15-time major golf champion, Tiger Woods. Two American sports luminaries team up to build a golf course, Trout National-The Reserve. A track designed to host professional tournaments, located in Vineland (New Jersey, USA, the birthplace of Trout) and designed by El Tigre, who has been taking his first steps in this area for a few years, in line with other legends such as Jack Nicklaus , Arnold Palmer or Gary Player, and that it will be owned by one of the best baseball players in history. The opening date for its partners: 2025.

“It’s amazing to have the opportunity to own a golf course, and to have it designed by Tiger on top of that is crazy. If they had told me that this was going to happen one day, he would have taken it as nonsense. It is more than he would have thought possible ”, Trout assures in this regard in statements collected by Sports Illustrated. Like many other elite athletes, Trout has golf as a hobby (or even something else). A passion that comes from accompanying his father, Jeff, on his outings during his high school years. His handicap is between “seven and eight”, a very respectable figure for an amateur and, as could be guessed in light of his power with a baseball bat in his hands, he shakes the ball forcefully off the tee: “I move between 330 and 360 yards (from 300 to 330 meters). It depends on the moment. Sometimes I try to slow down a bit to get a straighter trajectory.”

The idea of ​​building a field, he says, arose between him and his wife with the advent of the pandemic. When it came time to look for a designer, he was clear from the beginning, it had to be through TGR Design, Tiger’s company: “My favorite golfer as a kid was obviously Tiger. I thought it would be great to get him involved. We contacted the company, had a positive first impression and got them to come and see the land. When Tiger came in person, he loved it. He is surreal. Now we talk on the phone and I’m starting to get to know him, ”he says excitedly. Trout’s illusion finds reciprocity in the Tiger, who in the statement announcing the partnership with Trout stated: “I have always paid attention to Mike on the diamond (What is the interior area of ​​a baseball field called?), so when this opportunity arose I could not miss it. It is a great location and our team has the benefit of designing a special course”.

The land where the works will be carried out is an old silica mine surrounded by forest and farmland. The facilities will have, in addition to an 18-hole layout, a driving range, an area to work on the short game, clubhouse, restaurant, accommodation and even a chapel to officiate weddings.. “Building a field in my home means everything to me. You always want to give back to your community what it has given you, and bringing this to South Jersey is part of it. It’s putting that area on the map for people who don’t know much about it”, says Trout of a project that with these origins can only go well.
