There he is! 41-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic scores first goal in 14 months and takes record (and there was a lot of Italian drama involved)

It happened: Zlatan Ibrahimovic knows how to score again. The Swedish striker of AC Milan ended a 14-month drought against Udinese. Although it was not obvious. Ibracadabra first missed a penalty, but was then allowed to take it again – to the anger of Udinese coach Andrea Sottil, who received a red card. Ibrahimovic was successful in the resumption and suddenly became the oldest goalscorer ever in Serie A.

Ibrahimovic had not scored since January 9, 2022, when in the league match between Venezia and Milan. The Swede suffered from injuries for a long time afterwards. First he saw his number of playing minutes drop due to problems with the Achilles tendon and then with the knee, after which he underwent knee surgery at the end of May last year.

On February 26, Ibrahimovic appeared on the field for the first time, when he was allowed to play for a few minutes against Atalanta. Further raids against Fiorentina and Salernitana were followed up on Saturday evening with a starting place against Udinese. His first goal in 14 months followed shortly before half-time.

First saw Ibracadabra his penalty kick was stopped by home goalkeeper Silvestri, but the eleven meter was allowed to be taken again when it turned out that the Udinese players had walked back into the penalty area too quickly. A decision that received little understanding from coach Andrea Sottil, who was promptly sent to the stands by the ref. On his second attempt, Ibrahimovic was accurate and it became 1-1 (Udinese had already scored early in the match via Pereyra, ed.). (Read more below the photo)

Record for ‘Ibra’

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has become the oldest ever goalscorer in Serie A. The Swedish striker of AC Milan used a penalty kick in the Italian league match against Udinese. Remarkably enough, the defender also did that from a penalty against Udinese.

The Rossoneri could not enjoy the equalizer for long, because barely two minutes later, after weak defending, Udinese was already ahead: Beto made it 2-1. With 20 minutes to go, Ehizibue even made it 3-1: that was also the final score. Milan is therefore in danger of falling out of the top four by the end of the weekend, Udinese is moving up to eighth place.

Alexis Saelemaekers started for Milan in the starting line-up and was substituted after 64 minutes. Charles De Ketelaere and Divock Origi came on fifteen minutes before the end, Aster Vranckx remained on the bench.
