The world champions in wheelchair curling will return home much later than originally planned

The Latvian Paralympic Committee (LPK) informs that the arrival of the athletes will be delayed due to complications with the flights.

Currently, it is planned that Rozhkova, Erki Lills and Aleksandrs Dimbovskis will arrive in Riga at 22.25 on a flight from Copenhagen. On the other hand, Lasmans and the rest of the team plan to arrive at 17.55 on a flight from Stuttgart, however, changes are possible at the last minute.

Rožkova and Lasmans won the first medal in the history of Latvia in one of the curling disciplines in these championships. In the final, the Latvian duet beat US wheelchair curlers Pema Vilson/David Samsa with the result 11:8 in the extra end.

Thanks to this victory, valuable points have been won for selection for the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games in Milan and Cortina Although the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) plans to approve the selection procedure by the end of March, preliminary information indicates that the 2023-2025 championships will be considered Results. Eight wheelchair curling mixed pairs and ten wheelchair curling teams are scheduled to qualify for the Paralympic Games.

Even before the start of the championship, Dimbovskis, the main team player of the team competition, fell and broke both knees, so this championship ended before it started. He was replaced by Lassman, who was the only member to start in both championships, playing a total of 22 matches in nine days.

Rožkova and Lasman were assisted by coach Lills and assistant coach Dimbovskis in the championship.
