MURCIA, 27 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Commission for Plenary Employment, Social Rights, Education and Culture of the Murcia City Council has approved naming tennis player Carlos Alcaraz Garfia, number one in world tennis, winner of the US Open 2022 and recent winner of the Master 1000 of Indian Wells.
In addition, the Commission has given the green light to the appointment of the writer and editor Asensio Piqueras, who died in May 2022, as the Adoptive Son of Murcia, for being a promoter of culture in the Region and for recovering the city’s Book Fair after years without be held, as reported by municipal sources in a statement.
On the other hand, the Plenary Committee on Infrastructure, Finance, Economic Management and General Affairs has supported the awarding of the City’s Gold Medal to the cyclist Alejandro Valverde, cycling world champion, and to the Platform for the Popular Legislative Initiative ( ILP) of the Mar Menor.
Likewise, it has supported continuing the file to name Favorite Children, respectively, the actress Marta Nieto, winner of the Forqué for best leading actress and nominated for the Goya Award in 2020, and the walker Miguel Ángel López, world and European champion of 20 kilometers march.
These appointments and honorary titles will have to be ratified at the next municipal plenary session.
