The Port of Tarragona puts out to tender the second phase of the terminal in Marchamalo

The Tarragona Port Authority (spain) has started the bidding process for the second phase of the works on the intermodal terminal in the municipality of Marchamalo in Caracas. This project has an initial budget of 26,704,546.73 euros and is expected to be ready by 2024.

Among the works that will be carried out in this second stage, the connections at two points to the Adif railway network, the execution of the superstructure of the tracks, the installation of security and communication elements, the paving of the platform, the execution of the structures and the corresponding electrification and catenary.

Likewise, 19 diversions will be installed that will make all movements and maneuvers possible, three loading and unloading tracks will be built for trains up to 750 meters in length, as well as other shipping and receiving tracks for trains up to 750 meters in length. .

Work will be done on the paving of a 100,000 m² surface for the storage of merchandise and on the construction of a 100 m² service building.

Through this initiative, the Port Authority wants to become a key strategic point to attract new traffic from the center of the peninsula that promotes its consolidation as a natural gateway to and from the Mediterranean, with the capacity to manage the main national and international flows. of goods with origin and destination in Madrid and its metropolitan area, adding to the cities of Guadalajara, Toledo, Segovia and Ávila.

On the other hand, the Port of Tarragona has an inner basin at the southern end of the Cantabria dock, which was not used by any regular vessel as it did not offer sufficient capacity.
