The Overtime Academy team from Espírito Santo is about to leave for Europe. In Barcelona, Spain, between the 4th and 9th of April, the traditional MICFootball competition takes place, a tournament that has been in existence for 23 years and has already seen the participation of great players, including Neymar. There are 344 teams in all coming from 44 different countries, with teams from under-12 to under-19.

The Espírito Santo team will represent Brazil in the under-18 category. The players travel on Monday (3) and are already preparing to face the biggest teams in world football. Olympique de Marseille, Valencia, Sevilla, Real Betis and Real Sociedad participate in the competition in the category.

The OVT Academy Coordinator, Ramon Alves, has shown great expectations for the competition and has high ambitions. “We have good expectations. Last year we were invited by a Spanish club to compete in the competition under another name, but now we are going with our shield, our shirt, we made a careful selection and we want to make history, and if possible, get out of there champions”.

Capixabas are in Group B alongside the West Coast Eliite Football Club (USA), AFC Telford United (ING) and Fundació Esportiva Grama (ESP) teams. As the top seed, Overtime Academy will not face more traditional teams; you must face them if you advance in the phase.

About the project

The Overtime Academy is a grassroots soccer academy that focuses on developing young athletes to insert them in the Brazilian or foreign market, through scholarships. There are more than 50 players in Europe and more than 250 athletes studying and playing in the United States.

Ramon Alves explains that the academy has partners in Brazil and around the world, to which they send players every year. “We have partners in Europe, the United States and our country. The objective is to develop athletes and insert them in these three markets, and a competition like this is important to put the boys to have this experience”, he explained.
