Indonesian National Team coach Shin Tae-yong is curious to see the duet Elkan Baggott and Jordi Amat. Even so, he highlighted Elkan Baggott’s condition, which was considered not one hundred percent.
“Indeed, tomorrow’s match will be their first time as a duet,” said Shin Tae-yong in his press conference at the Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, on Friday (25/3/2023).
“But to be honest, Elkan’s current condition is not 100 percent. Maybe her performance will be better if she duets with Jordi when her condition is 100 percent when she duets with Jordi. However, Elkan is currently only 70-80 percent. So it’s very unfortunate,” he said.
Even so, the coach from South Korea admitted that he really wanted to know the game of the two. So far, it seems that both Elkan and Jordi are not destined to meet in one match.
In the 2022 AFF Cup, Elkan could not defend Indonesia because his club, Gillingham, was not released. In fact, Jordi Amat was able to graze at that time, and was able to bring Garuda to the semifinals.
“But to be honest, I’m also curious. Because this is the first time I will see the Elkan-Jordi duo play together in an official match,” he said.
Not only about Elkan and Jordi’s game, Shin Tae-yong also answered about the National Team’s finishing ability which was considered to be declining.
“If I see it, the problem (finishing ability) is in early childhood development. From an early age you have to learn a lot and improve your finishing skills. That’s the current problem,” said Shin.
“In teams and clubs it’s the same, of course the striker and stoper positions are usually a problem, so many use foreign players,” he said.
