These amounts are added to the contribution of half a million euros to rehabilitate the north end stand, works carried out in collaboration with the Ferrol City Council and which are already underway, as well as another half million euros, already signed, to improve the roof of the A Malata field. Regarding the works in the north end, he indicated his hope that they will be completed before April 16, the day on which Deportivo visits the A Malata field to face Racing, so that the club will be able to offer Deportivo fans a stand for visiting fans with a capacity for 3,000 spectators.
Valentn González Formoso indicated that this agreement helped one of the sports tractors in the province:A historic club like Racing de Ferrol, which is next to the Deportivo, right now, giving a very high level of excellence and who are an example for many boys and girls who practice sports in our province and who are one of the flags of the Corua Provincial Council in the promotion of grassroots sports. The sponsorship agreement to promote the province of A Corua, which will also be carried out with Deportivo, is for an amount of 150,000 euros and will last for one year. The agreement will be signed in the next few days.
Regarding the investments in sports and sports facilities in the city by the Deputación da Corua, Valentn González Formoso added that as president of the Deputation and as a resident of this region: All that we have announced is a first phase of other works that we want to carry out. In this matter, I would ask that the Xunta de Galicia lend a hand to deal with everything that this sports facility in the Malata field needs, which has been well managed but poorly maintained for so many years, since if one penetrates the interior of the stadium, it is very noticeable the years that the facility has. It is by the sea and has a punishment greater than a stadium in the interior. We ask the Xunta de Galicia to make investments in Ferrol just as it makes investments in Corua, Vigo, Lugo or Pontevedra. Ferrolans and Ferrolans do not need to be punished, since it is not a political party issue, now the PSOE governs, but four years ago the PP governed and we had investments from the Xunta de Galicia. What we only demand is that, as a minimum, it contributes the same as it contributes to the Provincial Council, but that’s it. I made this same reflection at this stage a few months ago and the response was zero, not a single step forward was taken. I ask the Ferrolans and Ferrolanas if they think this situation is fair. I think it’s an injustice to this city that has to end.
For his part, the mayor of the city, Ángel Mato, thanked the Deputación da Corua for betting on Ferrol.
