The City Council of Punta Umbría energizes the population in terms of Equality with a broad program for 8M

The Punta Umbría City Council has presented Thursday the program of activities that it has prepared to commemorate in the municipality the International Women’s Day, which will last until March 29 and will have the collaboration of other entities and associations of the municipality.

In the words of the mayor, Aurora Aguedo Borrero“with this set of events we want to give visibility and be a speaker of the reality that women live, highlighting the importance of educating on Equality.”



For the Councilor for Equality, valentina esteban, “there continues to be a significant gap and the fight for Equality is the responsibility of all of us”, so that the Consistory “is committed to energizing the population in this matter with a wide range of proposals”. Exhibitions, workshops, sports and educational activities or excursions are part of the programme. In addition, the main event will be the ‘March 8’ Awards Gala, which will take place this Saturday the 4th at the Teatro del Mar, at 7:00 p.m.

Punta Umbria City Council will deliver four distinctions: In the Mother and Worker section, the chosen one is Dolores Moriña Irala. In Promotion of Equality, Ana López Sevidanes. In Citizen Participation, a reference for the ARO association in the municipality, Antonia Hermoso Marín. And as Women Entrepreneurs, the sisters Consolación and Elvira Naranjo León. Apart from the Awards, another of the highlights of the program is the photographic contest ‘The Woman from your gaze’, in which the students of Punta Umbría educational centers are invited to send black and white images made with their mobile devices to make visible the women of Punta Umbría.
