The 2nd edition of the Wattrelos food truck festival will take place on July 1 and 2, 2023 in Lion Park. The first edition brought together 7,000 visitors. This year, the organizers hope to reach the bar of 10 000 participants. It must be said that the program is attractive: 53 foodtrucks, a concert, fireworksa beer brewed on site, a guinguette, entertainment for children… Among the foodtrucks, unique conceptswe present them to you!
10,000 visitors expected
It will be a big summer party in Wattrelos on July 1 and 2, 2023, with the second edition of the food truck festival at Lion Park! “The first edition took place at the beginning of June, with 7,000 visitors. There, we hope to reach 10,000, we have an even larger program than last year! smiles Béatrice Dujardin, assistant for shops and tourism.
120 applications, 53 concepts selected including…
120 foodtruck applications were received by the city. “We will retain 53, against 25 last year,” said the elected. Some have already been validated, including very original concepts.
Like that of Maxime Desbonnet, based in Croix, who launched his nomadic well-being salon called “ Maximum time”. “I was a specialist educator at the La Vie Devant Soi home in Lomme with adults with brain damage. The field of well-being interested me, I trained in massage and reiki energizing treatments. I wanted to launch my structure, especially for employees”.
Its foodtruck, unique in France, is specially equipped for seated massages, on an ergonomic chair, and dressed, called “Amma”. “These are massages that do not help you fall asleep, they are short, 15 to 30 minutes maximum, they revitalize! It’s a win-win for companies, which invite this concept into their car parks.
If you want to discover it before the beginning of July 2023 in Wattrelos, you will find it on Tuesday at the Gruson market from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Plaine Images in Tourcoing; Friday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at O Terra in Villeneuve d’Ascq.
Brew your beer!
You can also make beer in a vintage caravan, Nicolas Lalau proves it with his “Rolling Beer” ! A photographer passionate about the world of beer, he has completely refurbished an old caravan into a brewing workshop, where the public can come and take part. “I will be there on Sunday July 2 afternoon at Lion Park to offer entertainment. I will be back 2 weeks later with the beer brewed that day”.
Nicolas also travels to festive events and at the invitation of companies. Its concept is unique in France.
Some foodtrucks will come for the first time. Pour King’s roll, this will be the 2nd participation. Yoonès Mathieu-Sultani returns with his incredible concept of “ice-roll” ice cream and bubble tea. And also with a novelty in France, cereals soaked in liquid nitrogen, the “dragon-breath”.
Will we ever sleep in Lion Park during the festival? In any case, the Dahut company from Wattrelos, which specializes in the personalization of vans, will present its roof tents during the festival.
Entertainment for children
Children will also be spoiled with a village of 20 inflatable structures and games such as suction cup archery and mechanical rodeos with Les Châteaux du Chat Pitto. With attractive prices promises the manager: it will be around 5 to 8 euros at will for 2 days! A concert with a Mickaël Jackson look-alike is planned for Saturday evening, as is a fireworks display.
Cédric Debaere, responsible for the city’s social networks and very involved in this festival, specifies: “We will have partners, like the culinary youtuber Florian On Air, who will be present. A food truck competition like last year will be organised”.
Other foodtrucks will be known over the weeks. We can’t wait to be in Wattrelos at the beginning of July!
