Silver for Kathi – The New South Tyrolean Daily

Kathy Mantinger

Rodeneck’s Kathrin Mantinger won the silver medal at the Italian Judo U-18 Championships in Taranto.

After a few Trofeo Italia tournaments with strong fights and good placings, Kathrin Mantinger from Rodengo did everything right at the right moment.

In Taranto she won a deserved silver medal at the A2 Italian Championships for U18s.

This is the third medal for Judo Rodeneck in the club’s 23-year history at a major national final. After a quick and confident entry into the final, Mantinger was not able to follow through with her special technique and so ended up second.

With the medal won, Kathrin Mantinger also secured the starting permit for the A1 tournament in Rome on April 23rd. There, the best judo fighters in Italy meet again and compete in another major tournament.

Another reason to celebrate for South Tyrol was third place for Thomas Kastlunger from Percha.

He started his judo career at ASV St. Lorenzen and two years ago took the plunge and went to a performance center in Turin. His great commitment and the good basic work now bore fruit with the bronze medal won.
