Separated from her historic coach, Mikaela Shiffrin will be trained by Karin Harjo

The start of 2023 for Mikaela Shiffrin (28) was marked by the record for World Cup victories (87 successes) but also by the separation from her historic coach, Mike Day. During the Courchevel-Méribel World Championships in February, the American announced that she was ending the collaboration with the coach who had started seven years earlier.

On Monday, the American Ski Federation announced the name of its successor. Karin Harjo will now be in charge of Shiffrin. The two women have already rubbed shoulders when the first was assistant to the United States team and in charge of technical disciplines from 2015 to 2017, then speed disciplines from 2017 to 2022. She then headed the Canadian women’s team for one season.

« I’m really looking forward to working with Karin again, this time directly as my cell’s head trainer. I believe she can make a huge contribution to my work for years to come and she will bring a new way of looking at things. “commented Mikaela Shiffrin in the press release.
