Stojilkovic scores twice – Darmstadt defends first place

Darmstadt 98 regained the lead in the second division after just one night from 1. FC Heidenheim. The South Hesse team beat Kaiserslautern like a top team.

“That’s really good for us after the last few weeks,” said Clemens Riedel, not the only one who blew through with relief. After three games without a win, the 19-year-old was able to celebrate another sense of achievement with his team and defend the lead in the table on the 25th match day of the second division. The lilies defeated 1. FC Kaiserslautern 2-0 (2-0) on Saturday evening. The Swiss-Serbian winter signing Filip Stojilkovic shone with two goals in the 36th and 43rd minute.

In front of 17,650 spectators at the sold-out Böllenfalltor, FCK coach Dirk Schuster, who once marched from the 3rd to the 1st league with Darmstadt, experienced a bitter evening at his old place of work. FCK are already ten points behind HSV after the newly promoted team only took four points from the last six games.

Coach Torsten Lieberknecht’s team started stormy as usual. FCK were unlucky to concede their first goal, as Stojilkovic’s header was deflected by Hendrick Zuck. In addition, Marlon Ritter headed just wide of the Darmstadt goal in the 24th minute. After a long pass from Phillip Tietz, Stojilkovic made it 2-0 just before the break. “They had two chances and scored two goals,” Kaiserslautern’s Nicolai Rapp was annoyed after the game.

Tietz almost made it 3-0 immediately after the change. Nevertheless, the hosts no longer had to fear for victory against harmless Lauterer. Fabio Torsiello hit the post for the lilies in stoppage time.

“We can be satisfied. Mentally, it was a great response to the last two games,” said Darmstadt coach Torsten Lieberknecht: “We pressed very well, pushed forward and didn’t fall back in the last few minutes, but went up front.”

Darmstadt now four points ahead of HSV

The Südhessen are now two points ahead of 1. FC Heidenheim and three ahead of Hamburger SV. The Heidenheimer had presented on Friday with a 5: 2 after a 0: 2 deficit in the Baden-Württemberg duel with the Karlsruher SC. HSV, on the other hand, blundered on the 25th matchday.

Rudi Völler should save

Without his suspended coach Tim Walter, Hamburg remained without a win in the second game in a row and therefore have to worry about direct promotion again. Despite a long superiority in the north duel against Holstein Kiel, the Hanseatic League did not get past a 0-0 lead. According to the current status, the old master would have to go back to the promotion relegation like last year.
