Second defeat for Klinsmann – South Korea lose 2-1 against Uruguay – Sport

The South Korean national soccer team also went without a win in the second game under their new head coach Jürgen Klinsmann. Four days after beating Colombia 2-2, the South Koreans lost 2-1 (0-1) to Uruguay on Tuesday in Seoul. The goals for the two-time world champion came from Sebastián Coates in the 10th minute and Matías Vecino in the 63rd minute. In front of almost 64,000 spectators in the World Cup stadium, In-Beom Hwang equalized in the 51st minute for the 2002 World Cup fourth-placed side. The South Korean Football Association announced Jürgen Klinsmann’s commitment at the end of February. The 1990 world champion and former national coach has a contract until the 2026 World Cup final. The 58-year-old Klinsmann has set himself the short-term goal of winning the Asian championship with South Korea in Qatar early next year. The “Taegueuk Warriors” last won the trophy in 1960 – that was the second time in a row.
