Sam Burns, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Cameron Young in the final four of the WGC Match-Play

Sam Burns is the first to have validated his ticket for the last four in Austin, United States. The American beat the Canadian Mackenzie Hughes on the score of (3/2). The 26-year-old will have a lot to do in the next round as he will face the world number 1.

Indeed, Scottie Scheffler emerged victorious from his duel with Jason Day (2/1). However, it was the Australian who had taken control at the start of the game (3up at hole number 6). However, the defending champion reversed the trend before securing victory with five birdies over the last six holes.

A possible Scheffler-McIlroy final

For his part, Rory McIlroy also battled to triumph over Xander Schauffele. Thus, the 29-year-old Californian quickly took the lead, escaping 2up on hole number 7. But the Northern Irishman, third in the world, caught up before winning (1up) at the finish thanks to a birdie at 18. McIlroy will face Cameron Young in the last four. The American took the best (1up) on his compatriot Kurt Kitayama.
