Stage 1, Tuesday 21 March: Riccione – Riccione (161.8 km)

It was the day of Rémi Cavagna (Soudal-Quick Step). The Frenchman gave everyone a heel by winning after a long solo. Teammate Mauro Schmid started his classification well by finishing second and staying ahead of Rick Pluimers (Tudor Pro Cycling) in the sprint.

On day two, the peloton will start again in Riccione, this time to finish in a different place: Longiano. There is the finish on the Wall of Belvedere, a climb of just under a kilometer at more than ten percent on average!

On day three, a ride around Forli is planned, in which a cobblestone climb will be the decisive factor. Four times the drivers have to conquer the Monte Cavallo, which with its length of 4.6 kilometers at 7.3 percent will be able to provide the necessary chunks. All the more so because the first part is littered with stones.

On the fourth day, the peloton has to cycle in the region of Fiorano Modenese, where a stage of 168 kilometers is planned. The necessary walls pass by, as we know it in Italy. This could turn out to be a decisive stage for the final classification.

Favorites final classification Cycling Week of Coppi and Bartali 2023

Soudal-Quick Step has met Mauro Schmid a big favorite in the house. With the final time trial in mind, one must also take into account Remi Cavagna. If the Frenchman is motivated, he should be able to hang on for a long time uphill. A striking name at Quick Step is William Junior Lecerf. The 20-year-old climber of the training team already finished third in the Tour of Rwanda this season.

Dominic Pozzo alive makes his debut for Israel-Premier Tech. The Italian pocket climber found another team at the last minute and will want to make important race kilometers towards the Giro d’Italia. Although it has been a while since Pozzovivo raced, it can be expected that he has not been idle in recent months.

Being further Ben Zwiehoff in John Aleotti (BORA-Hansgrohe) interesting name, evenings Cristian Scaroni (Astana Qazaqstan Team). Felix Engelhardt (Jayco AlUla) is also a nice figure to keep an eye on, although his teams have yet to announce their final seven. Trek-Segafredo and EF Education-EasyPost also field strong teams.
