Report: Cowboys Close to Trade for Texans WR Brandin Cooks

The veteran has played the past three seasons in Houston.

The Cowboys are expected to trade for Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooksaccording to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Houston is expected to receive a 2023 fifth-round pick and a ’24 sixth-round pick in return, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

If the trade goes through, Cooks will join the fifth team in his 10-year pro career. The wideout, who has recorded six 1,000-yard seasons, is coming off a down year, having totaled just 699 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games last year with Houston.

Cooks has two years remaining on a contract extension he signed with Houston last offseason. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC in Houstonthe Texans will pay $6 million of the remaining $18 million guaranteed on Cooks’s contract.
