Punishment or just a slap on the fingers? Morant locked

Ja Morant has recently made headlines mainly off the court – now the 23-year-old has been suspended by the NBA, but it only appears to be tough.

Will he be back on the court soon? Yes Morant.

As the usually well-informed ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski reports, the point guard will be suspended by the NBA for eight games, but the league will not fine him for “harmful behavior”.

There has been a lot of fuss about the Memphis Grizzlies star in recent weeks. After pulling out a gun in a Denver nightclub during a live stream, he received a lot of criticism. The Memphis Grizzlies then decided not to use Morant in subsequent games.

The reports about him and said party in Denver didn’t die down, so meanwhile pictures came to light showing him with a stripper on his lap – and that in a room whose floor is covered with dollar bills.

Participation in counseling program

The two-time All-Star, who signed a five-year, $231 million deal in Memphis last year, expressed regret and said he wanted help to better manage his stress.

He also reportedly took part in a counseling program in Florida. He is said to have left this in the meantime. However, there is no fixed date when Morant will be back on the court and will delight basketball fans with his spectacular style of play.

Back against Dallas?

Morant and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver met Wednesday to discuss the matter. Due to the league’s strict regulations regarding the carrying of firearms, a ban of up to 50 games would have been possible. So obviously it wasn’t.

Morant was sidelined for eight games. It’s a lockdown, but less dramatic than it first appears. The reason: The five games that he has already missed are offset.

In fact, the point guard will only be unavailable to the Grizzlies in the upcoming games at the Miami Heat, in San Antonio and against the Golden State Warriors. ESPN also reports that Morant has been training for the past few days and is expected to return next Tuesday against the Dallas Mavericks.
