Valladolid, 14th in La Liga, is not out of the woods since Getafe, 18th and first relegated, is only 2 units behind. Maintenance is still on the agenda for Pacheta’s proteges who must continue their good momentum. Indeed, Sergio Leon’s teammates (5 goals) have just taken 4 points in the last two La Liga matches against Espanyol Barcelona (2-1) at the José Zorrilla stadium and on the Elche pitch (1-1) last weekend. After hanging Betis Sevilla (0-0) and beating Real Sociedad (1-0) at home, Valladolid is able to hold off this Bilbao team which has not won since February 11, i.e. for a little over a month. The Basques have only gleaned 1 point in the last 4 days, getting a draw on the field of Rayo Vallecano (0-0) and suffering 3 losses on the lawn of Atlético Madrid (1-0), against Girona (2-3) and ahead of FC Barcelona (0-1) on March 12. With only 1 success in its last 5 trips to La Liga, Athletic Bilbao lost to Real Sociedad (3-1), Celta Vigo (1-0) and Atlético Madrid (1 -0). New disappointment in Valladolid?
